2022 – The VR Explorer Crew is
heading towards new shores

In 2020, a group of curious people met regularly to explore VR- and 3D-worlds with the emphasis on virtual meetings and events. As a result the group published a guidebook on planning and holding events and meetings in 3D.

In 2021, the journey of the #VRExplorer team continued with testing new 3D tools/worlds for socializing and collaboration. We added some 2D worlds to our explorations as well, as they offer a useful solution between the plain screen of video chat and the interactive/ immersive experiences of 3D/ VR worlds, also providing a lower entry barrier. We published our learnings via shortguides for the respective tools below.

Now it’s 2022 – exciting times with even more new tools and especially worlds, as the term “metaverse” pops up almost everywhere, bringing new players into the virtual world. In the coming months, we’ll be taking short trips back to 3D tools/worlds we already know to see what recent progress they’ve made, as well as exploring new shores by taking trips into new 3D/ VR worlds we may not even know the names of here and now. So, thanks for following us so far and stay tuned for our new adventures!

We are passionate explorers of new possibilities with the aim of sharing our knowledge – because #remoteisheretostay and #sharingiscaring.

Why VR and 3D?

While we carry the term “VR” in our name, we don’t exclude 3D solutions.

Why? Because the use of VR tools is still linked to special hardware like VR headsets; equipment not every company or person can easily afford to buy. For that, 3D and overarching tools are a welcome alternative:
No extra equipment, mostly running on desktops/ mobile devices,
and due to easy handling providing a low barrier of entry to use.
